This is a specialized clinical work performing and assisting with Computed Tomography scanning procedures. This is an entry level CT Technologist position requiring competence in performing basic CT exams. Must be able to accept assignments at all CT scanner locations which includes MMC Bramhall, Scarborough and Brighton; as directed by Manager. Work is performed under the direction of the Manager, CT.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Knowledge of Computed Tomography equipment, procedures and techniques, radiation safety and protection as well as anatomy and physiology at a level generally acquired through completion of a two year program of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- License: Must be licensed as a Radiologic Technologist through the State of Maine or obtain licensure prior to hire.
- Certification: Must be registered as an RT through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists by completing registry examination. Advanced certification through the ARRT in Computed Tomography preferred but not required. Must obtain advanced CT certification by completing a secondary registry examination within 1 year of hire. Current BLS Certification.
- Experience: 1 – 2 years RT experience preferred with 1 – 3 months of CT experience. Will train appropriate candidate if needed. Knowledge of department policies and procedures as well as familiarity with department equipment and material at a level generally acquired during three months of on-the-job orientation and training. Basic understanding of all CT physics. Analytical ability to determine the best method to providing requested images based on the patient’s physical state and pathology in accordance with established protocols. Must evaluate scans to determine diagnostic quality. Interpersonal skills necessary to elicit cooperation from patients and gain their cooperation while undergoing various CT scanning procedures. Must communicate effectively with radiologists. Ability to perform and/or adapt to changes associated with different work environments and different equipment. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously (i.e. begin next scan, post process last scan, and transmit images). Understands and supports a culture of ownership and engagement. Required to travel between facilities as needed.
