Description
The Medical Technologist I supports the mission, goals and strategic plan of Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN) through participating in all aspects of Laboratory testing including patient test management, test performance and evaluation, result analysis and reporting, quality control, and quality assurance under the general supervision of the Supervisor/ Director of Laboratory Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Follow all policies concerning CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Participate in professional self-development.
- Participate in proficiency testing exercises.
- Perform other related duties as required/requested.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s degree (four-year college or university) in biological science preferred.
Experience: One to two years related experience in Clinical Laboratory testing under the supervision of a qualified Director preferred.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Experience with database applications preferred.
Certificates & Licenses: Laboratory Board certification is required. Nevada State License to perform laboratory testing is required.
Other Requirements: Meets current state, federal and other regulatory agency educational/experience requirements. Occasionally required to travel by personal auto to meet all of the duties and responsibilities of the position. Required to have a personal cell phone.
