Job Summary
This position provides care and treatment to patients on the Inpatient Rehab Unit.
This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Be a key team member with physiatrists, residents, consult physicians, and nursing staff.
Assess the physical condition of neurologic patients (stroke, traumatic brain, and spinal cord injured) by performing oral and physical examinations.
Work in an interdisciplinary team environment with physicians and other team members (nursing and therapists) by developing daily treatment plans based on patient status.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, with the assistance of attending physicians, to identify and assess the patient’s clinical condition and related health care needs.
Initiate and/or recommend therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
Complete medical records and accurate documentation of patient care.
Work with hospital resources (social workers, discharge planner, etc.) in counseling patients, families, and significant others about the health care continuum options upon discharge from the Rehab Unit.
Assist on-call physician with coverage of 1-2 weekends per month.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
