Position Overview:
- Performs all testing accurately and timely within their assigned section using computer linked automated electronic equipment and/or manual methodologies.
- Performs routine procedures accurately requiring subjective analysis under supervision. Performs procedures relevant to the routine operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in their assigned sections.
- Prepares samples of blood and body fluids for analysis taking measures to ensure the appropriateness of sample and the identity of the patient. Records accurate and timely results of analysis using manual and electronic reporting methods.
- Performs procedures accurately and completely following established infection control practices and adhering to established standards and practices for quality assurance.
- Uses knowledge of quality control methods in determining the acceptability of results. Consults with technical supervisors and pathologists regarding atypical results.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care when performing phlebotomy or other direct patient services. Instructs student technicians and staff members as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Associate's degree in a science-related field. Degree in medical laboratory sciences preferred. ASCP preferred.
- Experience: Previous clinical laboratory employment.
- Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with personal computers. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Special Training: Completion of training in a medical technology program or related field.
- Usual Work Day: 8 Hours

- Frequent physical demands include: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Carrying objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities
- Occasional physical demands include: Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Squat/kneel/crawl, Taste or Smell
- Continuous physical demands include: Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Talk or Hear
- Lifting Floor to Waist 20 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 20 lbs.
- Sensory Requirements include: Very Accurate 20/40, Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Moderate Depth Perception, Accurate Hearing
- Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks Include the following: Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Airborne Communicable Disease
