Job Description Summary
The Hemapheresis Unit is located on the 8th floor of the Extension Hospital (Rm. 886). We provide both inpatient and outpatient services to the adult and pediatric populations. The unit operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 4:30 p.m. (Staffed 0700-1530) with after hours RN on call, including urgent and emergent weekend inpatient coverage. Apheresis Services include but are not limited to: Therapeutic Plasma Exchanges, Cell Depletion, Red Cell Exchanges, Photopheresis, and Lipid apheresis. The goal of the hemapheresis unit and the interdisciplinary team members is to assist the referring departments in providing services to those individuals that will benefit from the therapies we perform and have a chance for improved quality of life.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Day Shift - 10 hours shifts (4x week); On Call coverage for Evening, Nights, Weekends. $10k sign-on bonus for external candidates with 2-year commitment. Must have 2 years of hemapheresis or dialysis experience.
Job Summary/Purpose: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking continuously. Ability to climb stairs (infrequent), work indoors (continuous), and outdoors in temperature extremes (infrequent). Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted (infrequent) and perform various physical tasks as outlined.
