Job Summary
THE SPECIALTY CARE SERVICES STAFF NURSE is a professional nurse who assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients/families in his/her area.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Associate degree or diploma with at least one year of recent nursing experience required, preferably in pediatrics and in an outpatient setting.
OR
BSN or MSN with a minimum of 6 months experience preferred, preferably in pediatrics and in an outpatient setting.
Experience
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
Current RN License in the State of Alabama.
Current BLS Certification.
Additional Information
Includes six Board Certified Pediatric Nephrologists, one Board Certified Pediatric Hepatologist, and nine Board Certified Infectious Disease Physicians. Some specialty services provided are renal and liver transplant, nephrotic syndrome, hematuria, ESRD, and Post Covid Care. Academic Fellows, Residents, and Certified Nurse Practitioners also provide care in this area under the supervision of the attending MD. We provide an array of multidisciplinary services to our complex patients with chronic conditions including but not limited to: surgical, medical, pharmacy, nutrition, financial coordination, and a psycho-social team (social workers, psychologists, family counselors, school teachers, and child life specialists). Basic referral information is required for new patient consults and information may be requested prior to arrival for appointment related to symptoms, prior history, tests, and procedures performed.
