Job Summary:
Candidate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients being seen in the outpatient clinic at the Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation hospital. The individual must demonstrate knowledge and the ability to assess data regarding the patient’s status and provide care as described above.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluation and treatment in outpatient rehab service.
- Will work closely with, and under the supervision of, a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician.
- Take complex medical histories on patients for consultation by academic and community physicians.
- Order consultations and interact with members of other specialty medical teams.
- Perform physical examinations on new and return patients.
- Order laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor dosages and adjust medications.
- Order and supervise the administration of physical therapy.
- Reach tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
- Develop treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
- Counsel patients and families about health wellness, illness and maintenance.
- Participate in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
- Willingness to participate in quality improvement activities.
- May assist in research projects.
- Participates in special projects and committee functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred:
- Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
- Utah State prescriptive privileges.
- Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
- UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
