Summary:
The staff speech pathologists will have the education, knowledge, and skill to provide in-patient and/or out-patient services, focusing on functional skills to enhance development, restore function, and prevent disability from pediatric conditions, illness, and injury. Evaluation, treatment, and home programming are provided for children with feeding and swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, and receptive/expressive language disorders. This role also includes aural rehabilitation/auditory verbal therapy for hearing loss or cochlear implants and evaluation for augmentative communication devices. The position shall include patient and caregiver education and consultation to other professionals, clinics, and agencies, both within Cook Children's Health Care System and within the community. Documentation and correspondence pertaining to these services shall follow department and system policies.
Education:
- Masters degree in speech/language pathology
- Pediatric experience preferred
Certification/Licensure:
- BLS required.
- State license or eligible for state licensure.
- Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology, or eligible for application upon completion of Clinical Fellowship Year and must be obtained within 12 months of hire to maintain employment at Cook.
