Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. A newly established neuroscience lab at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is looking for motivated Postdoctoral Associates. The lab is interested in the molecular mechanisms of the body's biological clocks and how clock dysfunction is involved in pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders including autism and depression. The lab has an excellent track record of postdoctoral training. Former postdoctoral trainees were successful in prestigious journals such as PNAS, Neuron, and Molecular Psychiatry. This position will have opportunities to work with genetically modified mice and solve scientific problems utilizing a combination of molecular, cellular, and behavioral approaches.
Key Duties:
- Conducts laboratory research in Neuroscience projects.
- Designs and performs experiments; collects and analyzes data.
- Prepares manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Engages in scientific communication and the training of junior personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Arrangement: This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
FLSA: Exempt
Position Salary: $61,805/annual
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
- PhD in neuroscience, biochemistry, or molecular biology, or in a related biomedical sciences field required.
- Experience required in behavioral neuroscience, e.g., mouse behavior tests and stereotaxic mouse brain surgery.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent scientific writing and communication skills in English; self-motivated and hard-working.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in molecular and cellular neuroscience, e.g., neuronal or brain slice culture, protein or RNA work, cellular signal transduction, confocal microscopy, electrophysiological recording (intracellular or whole-cell patch-clamp), or viral-mediated gene silencing.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
- Work Environment: Radioactivity is used in the laboratory. Lab environment; moderate noise.
