GENERAL DUTIES
Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.
Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories.
Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials.
Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards.
Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities.
Manages equipment and materials inventories.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The City College of New York's Media & Communication Arts Department is seeking a College Laboratory Technician (CLT) - Equipment Room Manager. The CLT - Equipment Room Manager, in close coordination with the Studio Manager and the Tech Committee, will oversee undergraduate and graduate students' reservation of audio/video production equipment. The position is also responsible for maintenance of existing equipment as well as research and evaluation of new products and technologies, training, and any relevant in-house technical support to students and faculty. The ER Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Schedule reservations and supervise proper check-in and check-out of field production equipment for MCA students.
Create and maintain Equipment Rental Contract (ERC) forms to reflect technology changes and ensure all packages are up to date with the inventory and classes offered.
Advise students on proper and safe use and transport of cameras and production equipment.
Maintain and update equipment inventory and ensure that equipment is organized according to industry rental facility standards.
Manage, train, and lead students in federal work-study programs.
Perform general preventive maintenance, repair minor damages in-house, and arrange to send out larger repairs in a timely manner.
Maintain the equipment room, charge returned camera batteries & format cards for the next users.
Participate in the Tech committee meetings and advise faculty regarding the equipment packages that are best suited for the courses offered.
Maintain the online presence for the reservation and check-out system.
Contact students and faculty when limited inventory is anticipated and offer alternatives to mitigate bottlenecks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Previous experience with equipment room management.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
COMPENSATION
Salary: $49,050
