Winnebago County Animal Services is seeking a veterinarian with shelter medicine and spay/neuter experience to join our team as Chief Veterinarian. Our veterinarian works with our kennel team to provide high-quality medical care to shelter animals, including dogs, cats, and other domestic animals. Responsibilities include providing spay/neuter services, necessary surgical treatment of various medical conditions, herd health oversight, and healthcare maintenance on shelter pets.
With an annual animal intake of approximately 4,500, our veterinarian provides humane medical treatment of all animals seen in the shelter and plays a role in the maintenance of shelter protocols. The veterinarian splits time evenly between surgical and wellness/medical duties, with surgery in the morning and other duties in the afternoon. Knowledge of and training in shelter medicine is preferred. This position plays a vital role in saving lives daily!
