Job Description - Radiation Therapist - South Shore (3301765)
Under the direction of the Chief Radiation Therapist and Lead Radiation Therapist, the Staff Radiation Therapist is responsible for the delivery of radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, daily maintenance and quality assurance checks for the equipment, maintenance of the inventory of department supplies, and administrative quality assurance checks as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily patient care and education.
- Administers radiation therapy treatment accurately and safely.
- Responsible for the safe and accurate utilization of all aspects of the EMR and Record and Verify system.
- Possesses knowledge of all scheduling, treatment, image review, and billing procedures involving the EMR system.
- Demonstrates ability to accurately perform all required new start chart checks and weekly chart checks.
- Positions, immobilizes and aligns patients according to the treatment plan.
- Understands the function of all equipment, accessories, treatment methods, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Assists the Lead Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques or resolve clinical problems.
- Participates in and appropriately documents the Time Out procedure for every treatment verification and daily treatment.
- Utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) program for treatment delivery and quality patient care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across all life stages.
- Demonstrates understanding of the patient functional mobility assessment tool.
- Demonstrates cooperation and responsiveness to all staff members.
- Attends regularly scheduled Therapist staff meetings and continuing education activities.
- Participates in clinical instruction and evaluation of Radiation Therapy Technology students.
- Works flexible shifts as directed by the Chief and Lead Radiation therapists.
- Rotates to other treatment areas as directed.
- May be required to travel to network satellite clinics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Therapy.
- Valid ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy must be obtained by the end of the 3-month probation period.
- Valid BLS certification.
