Are you a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) passionate about long-term care and looking for a progressive career in healthcare? Do you want to work with a leader in the rehabilitation arena, specializing in long-term care? As a Charge Nurse, you will assess resident needs, develop individual care plans, administer nursing care, evaluate nursing care, and supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in the delivery of nursing care. In this role, you will be involved in hiring, orientation, and monitoring the nursing staff and training them to do their best while working closely with doctors, administering medications, and maintaining accurate documentation of treatment.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the nursing unit and coordinate the effective use of personnel, supplies, equipment, and facilities.
- Review staffing patterns and census of nursing units; reassign personnel when necessary to ensure residents' needs and budgetary controls are met.
- Manage and analyze patient care following admission/readmission; conduct initial assessments for newly admitted or readmitted patients.
- Assist in creating and implementing care plans that address individual residents' needs.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, gastronomy tube management, as well as some wound care.
- Monitor residents and communicate changes to physicians.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of resident care and maintain medical records to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutic care to residents.
- Troubleshoot and investigate complaints, taking necessary action to resolve problems as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
- RN or LVN License, in good standing.
- 1 year of experience as a nurse; experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, maintain confidentiality, and react decisively in emergencies.
- Exceptional supervisory skills, taking a proactive role in supervising and developing the nursing team.
- Excellent training skills, with the ability to provide hands-on training to nursing staff.
- Good problem-solving and independent thinking skills.
- Case management skills, with comfort in client relations.
