Central Maine Healthcare is looking for an Interventional Radiology RN to join the Medical Imaging team!
This is a Full time, benefits eligible position on the day shift.
Position Summary:
The Medical Imaging RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Medical Imaging Department. Communicates with providers about changes in patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring and symptomatology. Demonstrates that he/she can respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient's condition. He/she participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care needs of patients and families. Communicates with providers as needed about patients’ condition to assure prompt, timely patient care and interventions and participates in performance improvement activities responding to house-wide needs.
Education and Experience:
- Current State of Maine Registered Nurse Licensure required.
- Two or more years of recent critical care, ED, or Interventional experience required.
- 3-5 years Peripheral IV experience preferred.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS and BLS certification required (Due within one month of expiration).
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for coordinating the care of patients while in the Medical Imaging Department to ensure their needs are met.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
- Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Monitors hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interprets the results.
- Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
- Demonstrates ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Ability to flex hours and schedule as needed for patient care. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing psychological and spiritual support to patients, family, and friends. Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient’s response to an Imaging procedure and evaluate the overall plan for effectiveness.
- Formulates a teaching plan for the patient based upon identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning. Family/caregiver is included in teaching as appropriate, always treating individuals with respect and dignity.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias, and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.
- Demonstrates knowledge of fluid and electrolyte management.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist radiologists with procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to be multi-tasked, flexible, organized, and function well under stressful situations.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, and management.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to patient care and performance improvement activities. Acts as a resource person for nursing staff and physicians of the facility. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age-specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
- Provides care appropriate to disease condition and age of the patient.
- Coordinates and schedules patient procedures in the Imaging Services Department; ensures outpatients receive pre and post-procedure instructions.
- Operates and maintains equipment correctly and safely.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations.
- Participates in CQI and collecting data.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Knowledgeable of current standards and policies and guidelines following them as appropriate. Willingness to mentor, educate, guide, and monitor nursing staff in the delivery of nursing care/practice related to vascular access function and care. Promotes the nursing philosophy of CMMCs nursing organization.
- Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.
