Overview
The Special Procedure RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environments, treatment and modalities and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and anticipates life threatening arrhythmias, and provides intervention and proper administration of all ACLS medications.
- Monitors and recognizes complications of special procedures, i.e., angiograms, bronchoscopy, TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram), other radiological procedures and intervenes appropriately.
- Communicates appropriate data to the physician and other patient care team members.
- Collaborates with other disciplines to plan and coordinate care.
Qualifications
- Current California RN License.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- ACLS certification.
- Certifications within 90 days of employment in Blood Glucose & Conscious Sedation.
- Two years special procedures experience preferred.
