Nurse Educator/Registered Nurse (RN) Education Specialist Position Details
The Nurse Educator/RN Education Specialist plays a critical role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the nursing team, collaborating with nursing leadership to provide quality education that ensures safe, evidence-based patient care. Essential responsibilities of the RN Education Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as mentor, preceptor, educator, and leader providing education, training, and guidance to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, CSTs, SPTs, Pt Access Representatives/HUCs, and Security staff on safe and effective patient care, procedure execution and proficiency, competencies, and problem-solving for patient needs.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to proactively review, plan, analyze, and develop nursing and educational programs based on organizational needs.
- Oversees the preceptorship program - assessing, updating, and implementing improvements as necessary.
- Utilizes current standards and best practices to develop proposed protocols, policies, and procedures; assists nursing leadership in conducting reviews of all policies.
- Identifies ongoing education and competency needs for the nursing department; initiates and ensures completion of competencies and certification/recertification of required education.
- Assesses and communicates the educational needs of nursing staff, including both mandatory and elective programs. Assists in the planning, developing, teaching, and evaluation of in-service and other educational initiatives. Serves as the primary educator for nursing programs and collaborates to address nursing concerns and issues across departments.
- Fosters effective interdepartmental relationships to enhance communication and support educational development.
What You Offer
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Minnesota.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program with a Master's degree in Nursing Education, Nursing Leadership, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' clinical experience required, med/surg nursing experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain active certifications as follows: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, and PALS.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, exempt, 64 hours per biweekly pay period
- Primarily M-F, 8-hour days, with occasional evening hours as required for educational needs
- Includes resource nurse on call rotation with four other nurse leaders
