Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of operating a unit within our center, from supervising nursing staff to monitoring patient care.
- Actively engage in the clinical development of staff under areas of responsibility. Identify patient and family needs for education and provide needed information.
- Use the nursing process to meet the clinical and psychosocial needs of the patient and family. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in documentation.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, and safety issues within the episode of care. Seek formal and informal opportunities to improve clinical practice.
- Collaborate with physicians and care teams to ensure quality resident care.
- Report and record all changes observed in condition or behavior of residents in accordance with documentation practices and policies.
- Comply with established medication use policies, safety policies, and procedures including standard infection control practices.
- Lead by investing in and building healthy relationships among staff, colleagues, and other disciplines.
- Set priorities and demonstrate an understanding of shared governance and promote it at the unit level.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the health care team.
- Apply policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
- Ensure resident care is documented appropriately in the residents' medical record and address any areas of non-compliance issues timely.
- Facilitate communication between all nursing personnel, other departments/disciplines, and physicians, ensuring necessary follow-up actions are taken.
- Ensure appropriate and timely implementation of physician's orders and timely notification of physician/CRNP/PA of any changes in resident condition.
- Communicate necessary information to family/responsible persons.
Qualifications
- RN with extensive clinical experience in long-term care preferred.
- Prior administrative experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, diplomacy, and the ability to take leadership of any situation.
