Full Time School Psychologist is needed in Sea Girt, NJ
INVO is seeking a full time School Certified psychologist in Sea Girt, NJ. The New Jersey-certified School Psychologist works within the school system to support students' mental, emotional, and academic well-being. The responsibilities generally include:
- Assessments and Evaluations: Conducting psychological assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs. This helps in identifying learning disabilities or emotional challenges that may require intervention.
- Intervention Development: Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral interventions for students with special needs or those struggling with emotional/behavioral issues.
- Counseling Services: Providing individual or group counseling to help students manage stress, social challenges, or emotional difficulties.
- Crisis Intervention: Offering crisis intervention services in cases of emergencies such as trauma, violence, or significant life changes affecting students.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to provide recommendations and strategies for enhancing students' learning environments and ensuring their emotional health.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring that all interventions and evaluations comply with federal, state, and district regulations, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) guidelines.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
- A Master's or higher degree specifically in school psychology from an accredited program.
- Completion of at least 60 graduate semester hours in school psychology, including coursework in psychological assessments, intervention strategies, and counseling techniques for children and adolescents.
2. Certification:
- New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Certification: Applicants must hold a NJ School Psychologist Standard Certificate or a provisional certificate, which can be upgraded to a standard certificate upon completion of all requirements.
- To obtain certification, candidates need to pass the required exams and demonstrate competency in psychological practices relevant to school settings.
Experience:
- While not always required for certification, schools often prefer candidates with prior experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting.
