Central Characterization Program (CCP) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Project Manager

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Central Characterization Program (CCP) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Project Manager to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage a highly skilled and multi-disciplined organization of approximately 25 people for the Central Characterization Program at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory to ensure the applicable scope of work is executed in a safe, compliant and efficient manner reflective of a strong Conduct of Operations culture. The preferred candidate will demonstrate success in the application project management skills coupled with positive leadership techniques to achieve and maintain a cohesive and motivated team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of professional experience, or
- Associate's degree with six (6) years of professional experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of professional experience is required.
- Some experience in a leadership role is required.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute CCP projects in accordance with established project management methodologies and standards.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables, and ensure alignment with stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners/vendors.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or roadblocks, and take proactive measures to address issues and ensure project success.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and report on financial status to stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between all project team members.
- Conduct regular project status meetings, prepare project reports and presentations, and provide updates to key stakeholders as needed.
- Proactively identify process improvements and best practices for the CCP project.

Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a project manager, preferably in a technical or scientific environment.
- Two (2) years DOE Category 2 Nuclear Facility experience.

Minimum salary $100,630 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
