Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs and provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and is directly responsible to the ADON/DON for quality patient care provided to patients in the Facility. Responsible for the day to day operations of Lead Mental Health Technicians, Mental Health Technicians and Nurses to enhance the quality of patient care. Provides sufficient staffing and schedules personnel according to census and acuity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Associate of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, mental health, and/or rehabilitation nursing.
- At least 3 years supervisory/management experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current North Carolina State Registered Nurse License.
- Current North Carolina Driver’s License.
- Current CPR Certification.
- CPI Certification.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Management skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Able to develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of psychiatric, medical, and rehabilitative procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable State and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
- Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
- Knowledge of milieu management.
- Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
- Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
- Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
- Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
