Pfizer is searching for a talented Lab Technician to join their team in Bothell, WA! The primary role of the Lab Technician is to work in a highly collaborative environment providing lab support to Research Associates and Scientists. The Lab Technician independently maintains the laboratory, including supplies and maintenance of laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, including coordination and communication with vendors
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory and assist with organizational initiatives and monthly lab cleanups
- Develop routine maintenance schedules and coordinate with staff for appropriate timing of annual/biannual maintenance by the Facilities team or external vendors
- Manage maintenance contracts with vendors, submitting through Contract Management System
- Maintain supply availability with an increasing understanding of usage
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure supplies are available when needed
- Prepare solutions and buffers as needed, managing waste and waste disposal for laboratory equipment
- Perform daily equipment calibration as required, including pH and conductivity probes
- Clean AKTA equipment and perform system storage as needed
- Manage freezers and freezer inventory
- Various other laboratory management tasks, including other requests from laboratory staff to assist with preparing for experiments
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1+ years of experience preferred
- A minimum of 1-3+ years of experience in a related position
- Understanding of basic biochemistry principles, such as buffer and solution preparation
- Buffer Preparation Skills (Chemical Knowledge, pH Measurement, Solution Preparation, Sterilization Techniques, Buffer Capacity Testing)
- Core Bio-Chem Laboratory Skills (Spectrophotometry, Chromatography, Electrophoresis, Microscopy, Cleaning AKTA equipment, Lab Notebook Maintenance, Lab Safety Protocols, Regulatory Compliance)
- Organizational and training skills (Lean Six Sigma)
- Builds positive relationships and communicates effectively within a team, adjusting to different roles and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives
- Demonstrates the ability to clearly articulate ideas and opinions in a professional manner
- Actively participates in team discussions, offering valuable insights and innovative solutions
- Takes initiative to share relevant information and contribute to decision-making processes
Rate/Location:
- $20 - $25 per hour
- This is a fully onsite role in Bothell, WA
