The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Work with a dynamic team within an established global infrastructure consulting and engineering company.
- Work with a team of natural resources biologists to organize, plan, and conduct a wide range of terrestrial biological desktop and field studies and support related permitting activities.
- Join Black & Veatch’s Environmental practice focused on ensuring environmental stewardship for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform lead role for desktop and onsite wetland delineation services.
- Conduct biological and wetland studies and protected species and habitat surveys, support environmental impact analyses, implementing permitting strategies, and coordinating with regulatory agencies.
- Identify and interpret local, state, and federal regulations regarding wetlands, water bodies, and protected species.
- Prepare and submit wetland permit applications, particularly Corps Section 404 Nationwide and Individual Permit applications for various types of projects.
- Domestic and international consulting, permitting, licensing, and environmental quality review processes for power generation projects, industrial projects, water and wastewater treatment facilities, data centers, and oil and gas projects.
- Consult with regulatory agencies at the federal, state, and local level to identify biological study plan requirements and environmental mitigation strategies.
- Provide consulting advice and permitting services to clients regarding Sections 401, 404, and 408 of the Clean Water Act, and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act.
- Author biological resource portions of environmental impact analyses (e.g., NEPA) and related state-specific comprehensive permit applications by analyzing biological data, describing existing environmental conditions and potential project impacts, and developing measures to mitigate impacts.
- Supervise and review work performed by ecological subconsultants.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum total of 5 years of related work experience is typically necessary to move into this level. Graduate work may count as related work experience if directly applicable to job function. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment: Typical office/home office environment. Physical Demands: Sitting, talking, grasping, hearing, keyboard input, driving, seeing, writing, reaching, stooping, crouching, walking, standing for extended periods of time. Domestic travel required. Infrequent international travel can be necessary.
In accordance with local law, the following Annual compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $97,471.00 - $146,190.00
