HealthRight 360's San Mateo Clinic is a small, growing community health clinic providing care to underserved members of San Mateo County. We are looking for team-minded individuals with a passion for healthcare, strong work ethic, and a belief that access to quality care is a right, not a privilege.
Medical Assistants (MAs) are essential members of the care team who are responsible for information management, coordination, care and support. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be competent, organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and a strong communicator.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of an MA are primarily: Medical:
- Assist with exams, conduct lab tests (UAs) and perform vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, immunizations, TB tests.
- Preparatory: Intake and consent forms, insurance eligibility checks and data gathering through interview of patients, immunization histories, exam room cleaning and stocking between patients.
- Coordination: Manage communications from and with call center, patients and pharmacies, write referrals, schedule and modify patient follow-up visits, oversee patient flow and appointment timing in clinic, order medications.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Medical or healthcare background is preferred.
- Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Outlook and internet applications.
- Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency is ideal but not required.
- Must have GED or equivalent.
