OverviewWe are currently looking for a Laboratory Manager for our Las Vegas, NV location. The Laboratory manager plays a vital role in the overall safety of the laboratory and is responsible for managing daily operations of the lab. The laboratory manager takes responsibility for all aspects of the lab including instruments, equipment, users of the lab and supplies needed to ensure the lab runs smoothly.
Responsibilities- Plans, assigns, and directs workflow in the laboratory.
- Acquires and maintains all necessary state and federal licenses including CAP accreditation.
- Mentors and supports direct reports for each department in their responsibilities and functions, ensuring they receive training in supervisory skill development. Identifies and implements training programs as necessary.
- Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs. Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date. Oversee plans and preparations for inspections.
- Oversees staffing of all personnel in the laboratory. Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and performance Management.
- Identifies future needs in terms of staff, equipment, and facilities. Submits appropriate documentation for procurement of such.
- Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, prepares, and submits required reports to meet established deadlines.
- Develops annual budget and manages department costs and resources to adhere to budget.
- Resolves problems through interaction with clients either through phone calls or other means of communication.
Qualifications- Candidate must have experience with bloodwork, cytology, histology and/or molecular microbiology, preferably in Women’s Health.
- Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in medical technology, chemical or biological science.
- All necessary Nevada state licensure.
- Minimum of 10+ years of laboratory experience to include at least 5+ years of experience in managing an anatomic and clinical pathology laboratory that includes molecular microbiology.
- Current ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist, Laboratory Scientist, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnologist or equivalent. Molecular Biology (MB) certification by ASCP is not required but would be highly desirable.
