Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for examining cell samples under a microscope to detect abnormalities, such as cancer, infections, and other diseases. You will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by providing accurate and timely diagnostic information to healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and examine cell samples using microscopic techniques to identify abnormal cells and conditions.
- Apply various staining procedures and laboratory techniques to enhance cell visibility.
- Collaborate with pathologists and medical professionals to review findings and ensure accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of diagnostic processes and results.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and quality control procedures.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree is typically required, preferably in cytotechnology, biology, or a related field.
Cytotechnology Program: Completion of an accredited cytotechnology program, which is usually a one-year post-baccalaureate certificate or master’s degree program.
Certification:
Board Certification: Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required. Candidates must pass the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) exam to earn the Cytotechnologist (CT) credential.
