Spatial Biology Core (SBC) is seeking a Lab Specialist or Lab Specialist Intermediate. The SBC is a core facility that supports research in spatial transcriptome and proteome analysis, multiplex analysis, and stem cell -iPSC-derived cell development projects. Our laboratory is composed of instruments such as nCounter, CosMx (Nanostring/Bruker), CytAssist - Visium V2 and HD (10x Genomics), and IsoPlexis (Bruker). The Lab Specialist will assist with sample preparation for all spatial analyses, including immune stain, data analysis, lab organization, and maintenance.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct experiments to support research projects.
- Support sample preparation for spatial biology and omics analysis.
- Preparation of QC documents, including study reports and method validations.
- Work together with PIs, postdoctoral, and graduate students.
Lab Specialist will provide critical support for the laboratory and carry out daily activities that include but are not restricted to:
- Immunofluorescence and multiplex analysis in a tissue section.
- In situ hybridization (ISH).
- RNA extraction.
- Single-cell isolation.
- Cell culture skills.
- Excellent record-keeping skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Lab Specialist:
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: 2 years of experience. 4 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Lab Specialist Intermediate:
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: 4 years of experience. Master's degree may substitute for required experience. 8 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate-level education.
- Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or Histology background.
- 2+ years' experience in the skills listed above.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. It also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance.
