Gundersen Health System is seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE) Commission on Cancer Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will collaborate with professionals across departments to support and maintain quality standards for accreditation of our Cancer Center and the Center for Breast Care. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the delivery of high-quality care in a supportive, collaborative department.
What you will do:
- 0.8 FTE (64 hours/pay period)
- 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7am-5pm, 1 rotating day off per week
- Serve as an expert resource and provide guidance regarding regulatory standards for two long-held cancer accreditations
- Organize and facilitate meetings of the internal governing boards for cancer accreditations
- Work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels in the CCBD and across the organization to ensure understanding of and compliance with regulatory standards
- With support (when needed) from Cancer Registry, review, track, document, and analyze quality indicators as needed related to accreditation standards
- Support infrastructure to ensure ongoing accreditation and data reporting
- Act as prime contact for reaccreditation Site Visits
What you need:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field, health-related field desired
- 2 years of healthcare experience
- Cancer Center experience in compliance and regulatory activities desired, but not required
- The ideal candidate is professional, comfortable facilitating meetings, confident in voicing knowledge, curious to learn, and adaptable to change

Job Description:
The responsibilities of this role are to assist Gundersen Health System in the maintenance of our Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation to include the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). This individual supports the organization to ensure the standards of care are met and instituted within the organization through collaboration of the multidisciplinary teams which provide cancer care.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develops and supports an infrastructure to ensure CoC and NAPBC accreditation.
- Coordinate the Cancer Advisory Committee which oversees cancer care at Gundersen Health System and has responsibility for ongoing accreditation.
- Fulfill the role of Cancer Registry Quality Coordinator for CoC. In collaboration with the Clinical Data Services Team, monitor the quality of the cancer registry data.
- Monitor and report on standards under their direct area of responsibility.
- Serve as an expert resource and provide guidance on CoC and NAPBC standards interpretation and applying regulatory standards to organizational practice.
- Provides guidance and leadership in the implementation of action plans for all requirements for improvement from CoC and NAPBC surveys. Finalizes all formal corrective action responses to CoC and NAPBC for any identified noncompliant standards.
- Ensures the Survey Application Record (SAR) software program is maintained and all pertinent information is communicated to the appropriate individuals.
- Serves as contact and point person for all CoC accreditation manuals, publications and newsletters and educational materials and ensures all pertinent information is communicated to the appropriate individuals.
- Monitors the Rapid Quality Reporting System (RQRS) and collaborate with Providers on documentation improvement methods.
- Facilitate clinical documentation improvements as identified from data abstraction, RQRS, etc.
- Facilitates and supports process for all CoC and NAPBC survey activities and post survey response plans, measures and monitoring as needed.
- Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in a related field
DESIRED Bachelor's degree in a health-related field
Work Experience:
REQUIRED 2 years of healthcare experience.
DESIRED 1 year of experience in a Cancer Center; experience in compliance and regulatory activities
