At NorthBay Healthcare, the UltraSonographer II works under the supervision of the Ultrasound Lead. Coordinates daily patient schedule for U/S. Performs U/S studies and ensures correct processing and handling. Helps in other areas of radiology such as front desk, reception, etc. Ensures proper equipment maintenance and cleanliness. Assists clerical staff when possible. Attends seminars and in-services. Takes call and standby as needed. Promotes a cooperative and positive relationship with physicians and other hospital staff/departments.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Performs ultrasound examinations in accordance to established protocols.
- Assists and instructs patients prior and during examinations.
- Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards.
- Responsible for patient confidentiality, safety, and well-being during examinations.
- Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment prior to use.
- Reports to ultrasound supervisor all equipment failures and/or malfunctions.
- Reports all patient complaints, discrepancies, and drug reactions according to the QA policies.
- Responsible for processing images, organizing paperwork, and completing charge sheets.
- Works in other areas of the department such as reception, assisting transfer, transport, etc.
- Organizational standards for Joint Commission, Patient Safety, and the Department of Health will be met or exceeded.
- Takes call and/or standby when required.
Education:
- Graduate from approved ultrasound course.
Licensure:
- RDMS or ARRT (Sonography) eligible. Must be registered within 12 months of hire.
- BLS certification.
Experience:
- Minimum two years of hospital experience as an UltraSonographer.
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal.

Compensation:
- Hourly Salary Range Min $63.04 - Max $76.59 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience).
