The LVN is an integral part of the clinical team in the Department of Infusion / Medical Oncology at BASS Medical Group’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Walnut Creek. The LVN will perform clinical duties related to cancer care in an outpatient setting and assist in some administrative duties. This individual works closely with the clinical staff, front desk personnel and MD. This position will have the following duties:
- Prepare for and assist in patient encounters (consults / follow-ups / OTV / telehealth visits, etc.), including but not limited to:
- Chart-prep
- Initial patient intake (vitals, medical histories and reason for visits, etc.)
- Prepare patients for examination
- Generate and document encounter notes
- Generate orders per MD requests
- Assists in preparation of additional notes including, but not limited to:
- End of treatment instructions
- Procedure notes
- Treatment summaries
- Patient-requested documents – disability forms, excuse letters, etc.
- Authorization / appeals letters
- Generate tasks and reminders for MD (signing orders, prescriptions, etc.)
- Help manage clinic schedule
- Manage certain encounter note / document templates
- Contact patients per MD instructions, including but not limited to
- Notify patient of normal lab results
- Answer / respond to patient questions
- Triage staff / MD related issues
- Triage referring physician calls
- Coordinate procedure schedules with other provider services
- Administer and document injections
- Intravenous treatments, wound care and medication administration skills at competent level.
- Help maintain clinic/office supplies and inventory
- Assist Director and Director of Medical Oncology as needed
- Assist front office / medical assistants as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Medical terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with EHR platforms (Epic, Beacon) preferred
- Effective in team building and working in a team environment
- Ability to respect and protect confidential information
- Strong computer skills

Required Education
- California Vocational Nurse Certification and License
- CPR / BLS Certified
- Minimum one year of clinical experience in a Medical Office setting preferred
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation will be based on experience
Pay Scale/Ranges:
$30.00-$46.50/hour (and the hourly equivalent for salaried employees).*

The pay scale/ranges shown are representative of the pay rates for the job title reflected above, but an employee's actual pay rate will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
