Job Summary:
The MRI Technologist will perform standard clinical and advanced research magnetic resonance imaging, particularly with babies and children as part of the National Institute of Health - HEALthy Brain and Child Development Study (NIH-HBCD) study. Responsibilities include patient assistance and positioning in the scanner, and collection of imaging data according to standard protocols both with and without MR contrast agents.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following represents the majority of duties performed by this position, but is not meant to be inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assumed when necessary.
75% Direct Patient Care:
- Perform standard clinical and advanced research magnetic resonance imaging, requiring positioning patients and research participants in the scanner, and collection of imaging data according to standard protocols both with and without MR contrast agents.
- Involvement in the collection of breast MRI protocols as well as infant MRI.
- Assist in the implementation of clinical MRI protocols on a Siemens MRI platform.
- Assist in transferring imaging data to PACS.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
25% Additional Center-related activities:
- Assist in maintaining MR-safety within the center, including periodic in-service training for Center staff, and helping to determine MR Conditional status of implanted medical devices.
- Collection of regular QA data from the MRI scanner.
- Work as a team member within the OSU Biomedical Imaging Center and an ‘extended team’ member in the labs of research faculty affiliated with the Imaging Center.
Environmental Hazards:
Possible exposure to hazardous material, hot and cold, blood borne pathogens.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 8-10 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Education & Experience:
Required Education and Experience:
- Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
- Certified and Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging from either ARRT or ARMRIT.
- Experience with operation of MR scanner and peripheral instrumentation (e.g., contrast injector, etc.).
- Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills in English.
- At least 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist performing clinical diagnostic imaging.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a Siemens software platform.
- More than 3 years of experience as an MRI Technologist performing clinical diagnostic imaging.
- Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule.
