Job Summary: The radiology technologist is responsible for performing fluoroscopic intraoperative imaging during orthopedic surgical and pain management procedures as requested by the physicians. Assists in coordinating the scheduling of fluoroscopic cases, providing staff with equipment required for safe practices as related to exposure, ensuring proper sterile procedures are followed, room turnover in preparation for cases that follow, and adherence to OSHA requirements.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Performs all exams using established protocols. Uses facility policy for proper identification of patient prior to performing the exam. Educates patient concerning exam.
- Properly screens patients for any contrast allergies.
- Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment in a safe manner minimizing radiation exposure to patients, families, and co-workers. Practices infection control standards and utilizes approved personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfectant agents. Maintains properly stocked, organized, and clean room.
- Performs basic patient care, including monitoring of the patient's condition, and caring for patient comfort, safety, and privacy. Obtains and documents the patient history and explains procedures.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Process digital images in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by the physician; adjust equipment for proper exposure, voltage, and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
- Operate C arm in the procedure room for spinal injections, kyphoplasty procedures, etc.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient condition to attend medical staff.
- Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by Physician, PA-C, or ARNP.
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Log completed radiological procedures.
- Identify and file reports as required.
- Maintain x-ray room, and stock necessary radiological supplies.
- Work closely with the Physicians, PA-Cs, or ARNP to ensure appropriate patient care.
- Obtaining high quality digital images in a busy work environment.
- Must be able to follow physician protocols and obtain high quality images in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Must be willing to assist clinical staff/receptionists with clerical duties during downtime.
- Must be able to work independently and possess good critical thinking skills.
- Assure compliance with all company plans, policies, and procedures set forth by Farhan Siddiqi MD PA.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification/Licenses:
- A.S. or technical A.A. Degree in Radiology Technology Science and currently licensed to practice in the state of Florida as a Radiology Technologist.
- Must display comprehensive and current knowledge of general radiology practice. Must have Fluoroscopic C-Arm experience.
Additional Requirements: As requested by the VP of Operations.
Experience:
- Prior Orthopedic practice setting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The employee must possess the necessary technical skills to fulfill all duties of the radiology technologist role.
