Pet + E.R. in Cockeysville, MD is hiring a full-time Veterinary Patient Care Coordinator to join our outstanding team!
Position Overview:
The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) acts as a liaison between all departments of the Veterinary Hospital and works closely with the doctors to facilitate the care of patients. PCC's assist doctors with client communications, exams, initial diagnostics and approval, as well as updating medical records and ensuring proper orders and charges are entered into the treatment sheets. Additionally, the PCC uses their technician skills to assist the doctor with patient evaluation, workup, treatments, admission, and procedures. The PCC will also assist in onboarding new doctors, integration of relief doctors, and provide efficiency with good communication to maximize the volume of clients and quality of care to patients.
Our PCC technicians have direct case oversight and management with our Emergency Clinicians. Our technicians work autonomously and think critically. We work hard to support a learning environment where technicians receive the support to pursue credentials and specialty credentials. Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Maintain a positive work environment, work well under pressure, strong ability to multitask.
- Respect toward clients and team members and employ stellar customer service.
- Use of proper medical terminology.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Maintain inventory and alert inventory manager as needed.
- Patient restraint.
- Effectively obtain a patient history from owners.
- Accurately measure and record patient vital parameters.
- Understand and maintain Asepsis and sterility in necessary situations.
- Feed and walk animals.
- Maintain a stocked work environment.
- Phlebotomy, intravenous catheter placement, ability to run in-house laboratory tests, ability to prepare outside laboratory samples, anesthesia and sedation monitoring, arterial blood draws, arterial catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, nasogastric tube placement, central line placement.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical math.
- Ability to convert and gather medications.
- Administering medications (IV, IM, SQ, PO).
- Correctly fill medications.
- Participate in patient rounds.
Schedule:
3/12-hour or 4/10-hour shifts. Day & night shifts available.

Education & Experience:
- High school or equivalent (required).
- 2 - 4 years experience as a Veterinary Technician.
- RVT, LVT, CVT preferred but not required.
