Job Summary
Atrium Health is looking for a Hospitalist Physician, Nocturnist for our new Lake Norman facility located in Cornelius, NC off Hwy 21/Statesville Road between Exits 25 & 28. Our new Lake Norman CHG facility is a 149,000 square foot facility with 21,000 SF of shell space for future expansion, and an on-site Medical Office Building to open in May 2025.

- 3 Observation Beds
- 3 L&D Beds
- 9 Post Partum Beds
- 8 Emergency Room Bays
- Lab, Pharmacy & Imaging
- Sub-Specialty Support
- Surgery – 24/7 Call Coverage
- Orthopedics – Recruiting for a three-surgeon team with on-campus clinic in Medical Office Building. No in-hospital coverage but someone always available.
- SHVI – M-F APP led service. Full day coverage but depending on census may have afternoon clinic in the on-campus Medical Office Building. Weekends covered virtually through regional call model.
- Neurology – Virtual Neuro consults & Virtual Stroke.
- Pulm/CC – MD rounding M-F inpatient in AM with PM clinic on-campus. Nights and weekends covered by Virtual Critical Care.
- We anticipate this facility to reach capacity+ in a relatively short timeframe given the market and demographics in Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, & East Lincoln county.
Position Details:
- Work schedule: 7pm - 7am, 7 on/7 off
- 100% inpatient adult medicine
- Internal Medicine Board Certified
- EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Degree of MD or DO from accredited medical school
- Board Eligibility in a clinical discipline is required; Board Certification in a clinical discipline is required within three years of start date/contract effective date; Once obtained, Maintenance of Certification is required.
CHG-Lake Norman:
Hiring 6 physicians:
- 4 Day Physicians (2 each team)
- 2 Nocturnists (1 each team)
- Shifts are 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
- Nocturnists shifts are 12-hour on-site shifts
- 7 on/7 off work schedule
Physicians will be on standard CHG productivity compensation model. Additional clinician resources (either APP or physician) will be added as census demands.
The physician is a patient-centered, system-oriented teammate who manages the care of all patients within their primary practice/clinical setting. The physician leads an interdisciplinary team to perform assigned clinical duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of Atrium Health, supporting our mission, vision, and values.

Essential Responsibilities/Functions:
- Performs medical history, physical examinations, routine assessments and determines treatment plan for patients.
- Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a timely and medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate for the population served.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement priorities, service delivery processes and service excellence initiatives.
- Adheres to access & productivity policies & protocols to ensure that patients’ access to convenient care is optimized.
- Adheres to standards and care protocols to deliver appropriate, innovative and cost-effective care management in-person and virtually.
- Actively and regularly participates in the assigned meetings/committees.
