Job Overview:
The Respiratory Service is a fully mature clinical, teaching and research service which specializes in pulmonary rehabilitation, long term ventilation and tuberculosis. The Respiratory Rehabilitation Research Program includes masters and doctoral level candidates. Within this Program there is increasing interest in the coexisting challenges of physical and mental health in patients with chronic respiratory conditions. The Long Term Ventilation Service houses the largest in-patient program in Canada and is the Provincial Centre of Excellence for LTV. Our Service promotes multidisciplinary teams, encourages collaborative care, and fosters excellence.
Accountabilities:
- Conduct targeted clinical interviews providing brief reports and recommendations for treatment purposes
- Provide individual and group patient therapy and education
- Provide education and support to patient’s families and caregivers
- Provide clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral level candidates
- Participate in team rounds and provide information and education to the multidisciplinary teams to support patient care
- Participate in program development and research activities
- Provide timely and relevant clinical documentation
- Pursue continuous professional development
Key Qualifications:
- PhD in Clinical Psychology
- Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in Clinical Psychology
- Competencies in Health and/or Rehabilitation Psychology is an asset
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience with an adult population
- Strong knowledge and experience working with patients living with serious and complex medical conditions
- Knowledge and experience working with patients with chronic respiratory conditions is an asset
- Experience conducting clinical interviews and assessments for patients with chronic health conditions
- Experience delivering CBT and other therapeutic modalities (e.g. ACT, Mindfulness, DBT) in both individual and group settings
- Excellent interpersonal and consultation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work, communicate and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to participate in program evaluation and clinical research
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
- Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the Centre’s core values and helps patients get their life back
- Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
- Provide coverage for other clinical psychologist as needed
