Description Overview
To ensure the Quality and Compliance of raw materials and products by overseeing daily laboratory activities including testing, scheduling, and laboratory documentation relative to the support of Perrigo operations and manufacturing needs, under food cGMPs.
Scope of the Role
Supervises daily laboratory activities of direct and indirect reports in the Instrumented (chromatography / elemental) analysis group; responsibilities also include supervision of daily laboratory activities in the Analytical Chemistry group, primarily on days when no other supervisor is present. Direct reports may include employees in both laboratories.
- Provide formal and informal training and mentoring to QC staff for test methods, electronic result recording systems, etc.
- Test purchased materials and/or Perrigo manufactured products per cGMP requirements; review laboratory testing performed by QC staff.
- Initiate, prepare, and complete laboratory investigations for out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Participate in internal / external audits and monitor laboratory compliance systems.
- Successfully investigate and resolve moderately complex laboratory problems and deviations; accurately maintain all related documentation in compliance with SOPs.
- Research, prepare, and review technical documents related to test methods, data recording procedures, product specifications, SOPs, WIs, etc.
- Demonstrate professional conduct under Perrigo’s Core Values of respect, integrity, and responsibility.
Experience Required
- A high level of proficiency in laboratory benchwork.
- Keen attention to detail, especially regarding the documentation of routine, investigational, and research laboratory benchwork.
- Ability to maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments, and perform and troubleshoot analytical methods.
- Well-developed verbal and written technical communication skills, and the ability to work with others.
- Previous experience with deviation investigations, including drafting deviation reports.
- Previous experience with method validation, including drafting and execution of laboratory validation protocols, and the preparation of validation summary reports.
- A 4-year degree in a physical or biological science, 3 years of QC experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous supervisory experience highly desired.
