DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for greeting patients in a warm, friendly tone to allow families to feel welcomed at the clinic during their visit. Registration and interviewing of patients to obtain accurate demographic and financial information. Computer entry of new/updated patient demographic information. Answers phones. Prepare medical records for clinic visits by compiling information from various sources. Tracks dictation to ensure notes are received for all patient visits. Collects co-pay amounts and balances due for services rendered. Distributes financial assistance packets and provides basic guidance to patients. Refers complex or non-compliant patient financial issues to Financial Specialist or Site Manager.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Medical Terminology Certification, preferred.
SKILLS:
- Computer knowledge, experience with Windows environment specifically Microsoft Office Word and Excel, keyboarding skills, and the ability to operate general office equipment required.
- Ability to read and write in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
EXPERIENCE: One to two years of general or medical office experience or completion of a medical office program within the last two years. One to two years of health experience preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Clinic Manager
ENVIRONMENT:
General office environment, frequent contact with patients, VDT exposure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Long periods of sitting at times. Keyboard usage with sound ergonomic principles. Must be flexible in work schedule.
