The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Delaware State University (Dover, DE) seeks applicants to fill a full-time Assistant Professor of Animal Science position. This is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position with 75% teaching and 25% research responsibilities in applied animal science. The candidate is expected to teach a wide variety of courses in animal science and farm management, extending to Animal Nutrition, Livestock Anatomy and Physiology, Livestock Selection and Breeding, Equine Management, Meats and Meat Processing, and Animal Manure Management. The candidate may also be expected to develop and instruct a graduate level course in his/her area of expertise.
The successful applicant will establish an outstanding teaching and research program in animal agriculture. The candidate will develop and teach animal agriculture-related courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels as needed by the department. The individual will develop extramurally-funded research projects, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals appropriate to the discipline. The candidate is also expected to interact with agricultural stakeholders as part of the Land Grant program and participate in the academic life of the department, college and university through service on assigned committees.
Qualification Standards:
Successful candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Animal Science or a related field from an accredited institution and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The applicants should demonstrate competent abilities to teach animal science-related college courses, conduct applied research for improving animal agriculture, and publish in refereed scientific journals. The individuals should be able to work proficiently in a culturally diverse, multidisciplinary team.

- Demonstrated research productivity through scientific publications and a record of grant procurement.
