Job Summary
Cardinal Health manages the Specialty Pharmacy at Central Maine Medical Center and we are hiring for a PRN pharmacist to work "as needed" during facility hours. The pharmacy is open Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 4:30PM. Duties may include dispensing, patient advocacy, accreditation and clinical support, patient consultation, medication therapy management, management of high-risk patients and complex drug therapies.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for all aspects of the specialty pharmacy department's daily duties and operational performance, in addition to leading and directing pharmacy staff.
- Oversee the daily duties of technicians and other supportive personnel for the pharmacy department. Responsible for dispensing and ensuring safe and efficient delivery of medications to all customers.
- Maintains open communication and is available to customers and practitioner sites for consultation.
- Provide professional consultation to both patients and prescribers of partner health facility.
- Engages in the planning of new pharmacy initiatives and management of existing patient care programs.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
- Maintain a professional presence throughout the designated facility and/or hospital.
- Assure pharmacy services and activities are carried out to meet goals and standards of both Cardinal Health, and the client/hospital, and specialty accreditation bodies.
- Manage inventory, places orders, check in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active Maine pharmacist license in good standing.
- 2-4 years experience in specialty and retail pharmacy, preferred.
- 340B understanding and experience, preferred.
- Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
- Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.

- Leadership and supervisory responsibilities for specialty pharmacy technicians.
Anticipated hourly range: $48.70 per hour - $69.60 per hour.
