LEAD NURSE (WEEKENDS SUPERVISOR)
Role and Responsibilities
Clinical Functions:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination/assistance to maintain quality documentation by the nursing staff.
- Collaboration with primary provider (or designee) and nursing staff to clarify orders and concerns about physician assessments and findings, diagnostic/lab values, etc.
- Ensures completion of nursing assessments including Admissions assessments and quarterly risk management assessments including but not limited to Braden's, AIMS and Falls Risk (as assigned for weekend duties).
- Admit, transfer and discharge residents as required
- Oversight of Service Delivery.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure all nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with other resident services (such as rehab services) when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident's total regimen of care is maintained
- Walking rounds throughout HLOS and oversight of hands-on care with a special emphasis on residents with highest acuity and at end-of-life to ensure the highest quality of care.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, audits, reports, charting, etc. as necessary
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Provide direction and support to staff and/or staff education as necessary
- Utilize nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments
- In the moment education for staff
- Weekend contact for any residenUfamily clinical concern or need, ensuring attention and/or follow-up
- Communicates with family members regarding residents' condition (as indicated)
Serves as resource for staff when questions regarding service or care interactions arise Makes daily contact with identified residents to ensure needs and goals as identified in each resident's care and service plan are being implemented and met.
- Ensures employees function according to respective job descriptions.
- Reviews daily work assignments to assure the right staff mix with resident needs; adjusting as required for care/service delivery.
- Facilitates an environment of positivity and calm for employees through informal meetings, acknowledgment of contributions, etc.
- Demonstrates leadership in the areas of proper equipment use and maintenance, ordering and use of expendable supplies, e.g., identifying ways of saving or extending the life of equipment or supplies through proper use
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- Current unencumbered license as Nurse in North Carolina, or qualified to obtain NC license (NC license must be granted prior to hiring)
- Current certification in CPR – Adult Module (American Health Association or American Red Cross)
Requirements:
- Maintain technical skills related to medication administration, as well as all skills needed to provide hands-on care as a Registered Nurse, particularly for infrequently performed procedures to provide technical assistance to staff as needed.
- Awareness of Nursing Home Regulations
