Associate Veterinarian
Schedule: Full time and Part time considered
Location: Allen, TX
Company Overview: Seeking an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join an established independent practice, to work alongside a team of 2 doctors. It is a small animal practice that is looking for an associate veterinarian who will act as a team member with the practice owner, in-house management, and all other employees to ensure quality medicine and customer service are offered. The most successful associate veterinarian will maintain a continued study of leadership skills and communication skills. People filling this position must possess and exhibit maturity and a high level of integrity; have strong communication and organizational skills, and be eager and able to work with & support the medical team and serve as someone whom the staff can come to for assistance and problem solving.
Keep open contact with lead staff, medical director, and management as needed.
- Promote and present an encouraging attitude among staff.
- Handle all communications with professionalism and respect.
- Frequent communication with clients regarding exam findings, treatment protocols, diagnostics, recommended services, updates, and preventions.
- Develop a friendly partnership and professional relationship with clients and staff members.
- Proficient in surgery.
- Proficient in dental procedures.
- Handle angry or grieving clients with a calm and reassuring manner.
- Help establish work priorities for staff members.
- Maintain medical record keeping and documentation in a timely manner.
- Be familiar with federal and state regulations regarding pharmacy, and controlled drugs.
- Contribute to the discussion of client skills, staff interactions, work ethic, and production levels.
- Contribute to ideas of growth for the employees and hospital via guidelines and protocols.
- Be prepared to handle any pet or facility emergency that may arise. Follow contingency plans.
- Work with Inventory Management and Practice Management to understand prescription ordering protocol.
