Job Summary
To support current initiatives to maximize our capacity. This will allow for more timely transitions of care from our Emergency Department and procedural areas. The Patient Flow Administrator will work closely with the Emergency Department, inpatient units, Patient Placement, Administrators on Duty, and Environmental Services. The Patient Flow Administrator will hardwire standardized processes and monitor transitions of care.
Accountabilities
- Standardizes processes to ensure patients are admitted to the appropriate unit with the appropriate orders.
- Hardwires standardized processes for inpatient transfers and patient discharges.
- Evaluates bed turnaround times and develops action items to address opportunities.
- Supports efforts to improve patient throughput and ensure safe, timely care transitions for our patients.
- Strengthens utilization of current systems to support patient throughput.
- Collaborates with the Emergency Department, inpatient units, Administrators on Duty, and Environmental Services to improve care transitions.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing program and approved by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Experience
Five years of experience in nursing practice is required. Critical Care nursing experience is required.
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required
Licensed to work as a RN in the state of South Carolina.

Clinical knowledge base with the ability to analyze and interpret data; critical thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to work on teams; strong communication skills and the ability to provide leadership to groups; coping skills in a stressful environment; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks; must have the ability to teach and motivate others.
