A BRIEF SUMMARY OF OUR DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM
Washburn Center is one of only a few preschool and early elementary day treatment programs in Minnesota. This intensive program provides early intervention and helps children in pre-school through second grade in the Minneapolis school district:
·Gain and improve self-regulation skills
·Learn pro-social behaviors
·Learn adaptive ways to rely on adult relationships for support
At Washburn Center for Children, we join a child’s perspective of their world, viewing this as both important and critical; centering mental health care to help them develop increased social, emotional and behavioral skills and functioning. We work with a collaborative model that focuses on repair through relationships.
In addition to the child attending therapeutic group sessions, clinicians help children and families through pre- and after-care services, group and family therapy and connect with psychiatric services as needed.
Children continue to attend their community school or preschool for a half day. Our Day Treatment staff collaborate closely with a child’s teachers and caregivers to ensure the ongoing success of the child and to help the child transfer lessons learned in Washburn Center’s therapeutic group to their traditional school setting.
WHAT CAN WASHBURN CENTER OFFER YOU?

During your time at Washburn Center you will receive continuous clinical training, increased supervision time and exposure to a wide array of clinical needs. Case Management is a unique field which will provide you with an expansive understanding of family mental health. As such this role is well suited for Social Work experienced individuals or Mental Health qualified Professionals. Additionally this role is a highly collaborative function, and you will experience exposure to all programs at Washburn Center and work in collaboration with the various experienced professionals at Washburn to ensure the best care for the children and families in your care.
Role Responsibilities
Clinical Treatment - Clinicians will provide a combination of the following mental health services, including:
Group Therapy – Clinicians will be required to provide group therapy, including the following:
·Conduct Diagnostic Assessments as needed
·Develop and implement an individualized treatment plan based on the diagnosis
·Work with co-therapists to provide and lead scheduled group services
·Plan and implement therapeutic activities based on the child’s individual treatment plan goals and objectives, developmental needs, and therapeutic group themes
·Lead a group environment that demonstrates consistency, respectful communication, safety, predictability, clear limits, and encouragement
·Intervene respectfully, safely, and directly to maintain the children’s physical and emotional safety and use therapeutic approaches to help prevent aggressive, destructive, and harmful behavior
·Ability to use and apply therapeutic methods learned through the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) which includes verbal de-escalation and therapeutic holds
·Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
·Work with co-therapists, program supervisors, and program support to maintain enrollment of 6 children and a daily attendance of 5 children in the group setting
·Create a discharge plan
·Provide fill in support to cover group settings for co-therapists when needed
Individual Therapy – Clinicians will be expected to provide individual therapy to clients, including:
·Conduct Diagnostic Assessments as needed upon enrollment and with referrals
·Develop and implement an individualized treatment plan based on the diagnosis
·Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
·Provide individual skills services in the client’s home, school, and other community programs based on the objectives and needs identified in the client’s treatment plan
·Create a discharge plan
Family Therapy – Clinicians will be expected to provide family therapy with the client’s family, including:
·Conduct Diagnostic Assessments as needed
·Develop and implement an individualized treatment plan based on the diagnosis
·Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
·Provide or conduct family therapy and/or skills to the family members in the client’s home based on the objectives and needs identified in the client’s treatment plan
·Create a discharge plan
Documentation - Clinicians will be expected to maintain required documentation as specified in our Clinical Policy Manual, including:
·Diagnostics assessments
·Treatment plans for each client
·Daily progress notes
·Document frequency and types of interventions used in group therapy
·Complete CASIIs/ECSIIs and work with parents to complete the parent SDQ or other identified instruments at intake
·Discharge summaries
·Satisfaction surveys
·Timely response of communications from the program director, the supervisor, or program support to ensure clear communication throughout the program
**All clinicians are to ensure Minnesota and HIPAA data privacy requirements are followed.**
Role Requirements:
·Must have a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other human service field
·Must maintain or be working towards independent licensure (licensure as LICSW, LP, LPCC, or LMFT strongly preferred)
·If candidate has a Master’s in Social Work, valid licensure as an LGSW is required upon starting position
·1-2 years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and their families and providing therapeutic groups for children is required, with 3-5 years preferred
·DC: 0-5 training desired
·Flexibility, resourcefulness, and demonstrated cultural responsiveness when working with diverse populations, specifically those impacted by systemic inequality
·Applicants must have knowledge and application of trauma-informed practice, and experience working with children that have experienced trauma
·Must have vehicle in operating condition, a valid driver’s license, and car insurance
$60,000 - $75,000 a year
Salary bracket: $60,000 - $75,000 (Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to Independent licensure status, work experience and education)

Vacation: Paid Vacation accrues at 10 hours of vacation per month - up to 15 days / 120 hours annually.
Sick Leave: Paid sick leave accrues at 6.68 hours of sick per month - up to 10 days / 80 hours.
Holidays: There are 2.5 days/20 hours of floating holidays per year in addition to the eight standard holidays.
