Registered Nurse -3C Cardiac Stepdown - 36 Hours - Midnights
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides exceptional, compassionate patient care within a dynamic healthcare environment. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes. The RN collaborates effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and promote a positive patient experience.
UNIT DESCRIPTION:
3C is a 12 bed cardiac step down unit staffing 4 RNs (3:1) and 1-2 NAs (2 on days, one on nights). Main focus is cardiac patients requiring a stepdown level of care (NSTEMI requiring PCI, CHF requiring inotrope therapy, antiarrhythmic drips, etc.) but also takes any medical/surgical overflow requiring step down level of care (except stroke).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.
- Assess patient conditions, develop comprehensive care plans, and implement interventions based on evidence-based practices.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and make necessary adjustments to the care plan.
- Provide patient and family education to promote self-management and prevent complications.
- Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their safety and well-being.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide clear guidance to assistive personnel.
- Create a positive and supportive work environment that fosters teamwork and professional development.
- Participate in shared governance initiatives to improve nursing practice.
Quality and Safety:
- Adhere to regulatory standards and best practices for patient care, safety, and documentation.
- Identify and address potential risks to patient safety and quality of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development and education to maintain current knowledge and skills.
- Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and students.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture that values respect, collaboration, and learning.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
Experience:
- One to two years of experience as a Lactation Consultant/Specialist is preferred.
Certifications:
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification must be acquired within 12 months of hire and maintained.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to develop effective nursing care plans.
- Ability to provide a wide range of professional nursing services.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Licenses:
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
