MediCard now boasts of more than half a million members and over 54,000 accredited doctors in over 1,000 hospitals and clinics nationwide. It also operates 16 MediCard free-standing clinics that provide services at par with those offered by hospitals minus the confinement.
MediCard is currently looking for assertive, dynamic and energetic individuals to fill up the following vacancy:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide quality care and assistance to patients and doctors in the clinics.
- Provides assistance and out-patient service to patients/members.
- Administers basic medical services (e.g. nebulization, render emergency first aid, administration of medicines – oral/injectable as per advice of physicians on duty).
- Assists doctors during breast, genital and rectal examinations of patients and during minor surgical procedures.
- Cleaning, disinfection, sterilization of medical instruments and speculums for autoclave.
- Change of linen and prepare all used linens and gowns for laundry.
- Answer patient/telephone inquiries.
- Takes patient’s initial vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, height and weight) repeat when necessary and properly record them on patient’s chart/exam report form.
- Receive patient chart from medical records technician and examine for completeness.
- Endorse the patient’s chart/exam report from the decking nurse.
- Receive patient charts from vital signs nurse.
- Deck patient to doctors appropriately based on service to be availed (medical exam/primary consult/specialty consult) and prioritize patients whose condition requires immediate medical attention.
- Guide patients and endorse them to the medical staff of the next workstation depending on type of availments (medical exam/primary consult/specialty consult).
- Monitor doctors’ schedule and availability. Confirm and initiate follow-up time of arrival.
- Receive laboratory/diagnostic exam requests from clinic nurse/physician/patient.
- Verify membership status, diagnosis, healthcare package/coverage, utilization history.
- Approve laboratory/diagnostic exam requests and issue official MediCard laboratory/diagnostic exam request form.
- Endorse the patient to the decking nurse/ancillary nurse/other medical staff.
- Encode and upload daily approvals in the intranet.
- Receive medical exam report form/approved request form/official receipt from patient.
- Validate patient information and record properly.
- Prepare machine and necessary supplies needed for the exam.
- Properly instruct patient on the exam to be done.
- Perform ECG/TMST, Audiometry, Spirometry.
- Inform patient on the date of release of the result.
- Prepare tracings for reading and send to the doctors for reading/interpretation.
- Encode/log results.
- Prepare transmittal for send out to records/head office in case of medical exam availment (APE/PE/ME/ECU).
- Release results to patient and/or to the assigned clinic nurse in the different MediCard clinic branches.
- Receive medical exam report form (APE/PE/ME/ECU) from the attending physician, clinic nurse or patient and evaluate for completeness.
- Determine Management given and advise patient accordingly.
- Give instructions to the patient as to the medicines prescribed, how to take them and duration of treatment.
- Determine laboratory/diagnostic procedures requested by the attending physician and endorse to the approving officer on duty.
- Advise patient as to the schedule of the next follow-up if necessary and assist in scheduling the next appointment.
- Ask patient to accomplish the survey form and ensure its completion and submission before discharge.
- Ensure that charges on services availed have been settled/paid prior to discharge by checking on official receipt.
Qualifications and Guidelines:
- Education: Graduate of B.S. Nursing; NLE Board Passer.
- Experience: 1-2 years’ experience, preferably in an HMO or industrial setting, computer literate with typing skills, good communication skills.
