Spring Harbor Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 2 West Adult Psychiatric Unit. This unit is a 24-bed general adult psychiatric unit that services patients who experience acute psychiatric illnesses and any co-occurring disorders. Treatment emphasizes return-to-work strategies and cognitive therapies to help patients transition smoothly from the hospital to the community and in the shortest possible time. Most patients transition from an inpatient hospital such as Maine Medical Center or Southern Maine Healthcare as well as from different facilities across the state of Maine. This nurse will provide care, assessments, and interventions in an individual and milieu setting.

In most cases, the unit's staffing patterns include 4 registered nurses and 4 psych technicians during the day and evening shifts and 2 registered nurses and 2 psych technicians on the overnight shifts.
Position Summary
- The Registered Nurse provides patient care utilizing the nursing process in inpatient and outpatient facilities.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
- License/Certifications: Licensed as a registered professional nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing required.
- Experience: 1+ year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of counseling theory, physical and psychological effects of mental illness, and substance abuse preferred.
- Knowledge of bio-psychosocial assessments required.
