Job Summary
The ideal applicant will be a highly organized team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to plan and multitask to meet tight deadlines on multiple projects across various states. The Project Manager for Special Projects will be responsible for providing the highest possible service to our market, assisting the Vice President of Operations in the overall management of large Joint Venture and association partnerships at McFarland Construction. This involves attending weekly project meetings, participating in weekly site visits, collaborating with our teams, monitoring budgets, and preparing monthly project reports, including financial reports and preparation of monthly billings to the Owner.
This role will also support our “business as usual” MSA client portfolio and other special projects, such as leading the ongoing Google Lenoir projects with overall project management and continual collaboration in the associated preconstruction phase activities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Collaborates with Preconstruction to prepare, review, and monitor information and reports related to all costs involved in developing the project budgets.
- Finalizes and manages project budgets.
- Understands the requirements of the owner’s contract, including bonds, fees, notifications, schedules, reporting, and costs.
- Participates in proposal meetings with the owner to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas.
- Manages the subcontracting process, which includes holding initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed price, developing subcontract scope of work, and managing the subcontract distribution and final execution process.
- Responsible for onsite construction activity and plans all construction operations, scheduling intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
- Reviews contract documents with all project participants (e.g., clients, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, government regulators, utilities) to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinates and delivers all requirements for subcontractors and suppliers to meet project schedules.
- Ensures that project site and company assets are secure and maintains a safe and respectful working environment by implementing programs for safety and loss prevention, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), risk management, training, and quality control.
- Acts with integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and other associates, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
Education & Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Construction management preferred)
- Design/build experience preferred
- Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project
- Experience with Procore and Microsoft Project tools is preferred.
