Position Description: Registered Nurse (RN)
Status: PRN - As Needed - Variable Hours and Days
Shift: Day and Night - As Needed - Variable
Shift Time Schedule: Day 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Night 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. - As Needed
Salary Range: $29.70-39.45
Position Summary:
The position is responsible for care for families antepartum to postpartum and newborn cares. In this position, it is the expectation of these professionals to be responsible for all aspects of care in the Family Birth Center. Responsibilities include care of the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum mother and stabilization and routine care of the neonate. Provides direct patient care in listed settings and/or any nursing capacity, as needed. To complete other duties including, but not limited to, secretarial, housekeeping, etc., to keep the department running efficiently and maintain excellent patient care.
Education/Qualifications Required: Valid Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) License. BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, fetal monitoring, caring, customer-focused, team player, willing to work hard, motivated to continue to learn and change, able to multitask.
Experience: Perinatal nursing experience required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to move about the facility in the care of patients and moving of equipment. Must be able to bend to the floor and reach overhead, balance, climb, lift, push, pull, walk, stand and crouch, twist and turn while obtaining supplies and equipment or in assisting patient cares involving walking, bathing, or positioning. Verbal and auditory acuity sufficient for over the telephone reporting of patient condition reports, hearing patients' verbal requests, auditory assessment of patients with a stethoscope, and auditory equipment alarms is necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Typical Working Conditions: Employees are subject to the risks inherent to working in a hospital environment, including exposure to inside environmental conditions, hazardous chemicals, infectious and contagious diseases, and exposure to unpleasant elements. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances such as emergency or crisis situations.
