Job Description
NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.
The Role:
NJ/NY Gotham FC is seeking a dual certified Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer to join their multidisciplinary high-performance team in providing exceptional acute pitch-side care, player evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the healthcare of players including, but not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-pitch evaluation and triage, development of individualized injury risk mitigation strategies, ongoing evaluation and treatment, and short and long term rehabilitation.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency action plans (EAPs) including education and training of medical and relevant team staff, regular review, and compliance with all League-mandated NWSL policies.
- Lead match-day emergency medical management and ensure compliance with environmental/weather policies, including monitoring for lightening and heat indices.
- Ensure compliance with all local and national government healthcare policies including standards related to bloodborne pathogens.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of player health information, injury occurrence, physician evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention, player participation, and treatment and rehabilitation interventions, in the League-provided electronic medical record (EMR) system, Kitman Labs.
- Oversee the maintenance of player healthcare spaces both at the training facility and stadium, including monitoring of inventory, and organization and maintenance of pharmaceuticals and emergency medical equipment under the direction of team physicians.
- Perform administrative tasks at the direction of the medical director including, but not limited to initiation of insurance / workers compensation claims, scheduling of player appointments, managing of external providers such as Chiropractors and Massage Therapists, compilation of League required reports, and attendance at League required meetings/activities/programs.
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degrees in Athletic Training and Physical Therapy
- NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
- Eligible to be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of New Jersey
- Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers
- Must be certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) and in good standing with the BOC
- Must hold a current CPR certification in Basic Life Support
- Must maintain standard liability insurance
- Must understand medication and nutritional supplements banned or restricted in elite soccer players including USADA and WADA/FIFA regulations, and familiarity with GlobalDRO.com
- Must abide by all local, state, and federal laws and regulations specific to their profession, codes and standards of their governing bodies, and all applicable League Rules and Team policies (e.g., informed consent, medication management, etc.)
- At least three (3) years of experience as an Athletic Trainer since receiving BOC certification
- At least three (3) years of experience caring for elite-level athletes (e.g., collegiate, professional, Olympic)
Capability & Other Characteristics:
- Experience with on-field emergency evaluation and management at a Division 1 collegiate or professional sport level
- Experience communicating and collaborating in a multidisciplinary high-performance team setting
- Excellent self-directed work ethic and strong organizational skills
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
- Able to travel for away games
- Current valid driver’s license
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Location:
This position is based at Gotham FC’s soccer operations office and practice facility, currently located in Whippany, New Jersey. Ability to work at the team’s business office, currently located in Jersey City, as needed will also be required. The person must be able and willing to attend all Gotham FC home games, and as necessary, away games and other business-related travel.
Job type: Full-time Exempt position
Salary range: $80,000 – $110,000
