As a Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist (CT/MRI), you will perform imaging in multiple modalities, demonstrating full competency and maintaining certification and licensure as required by the accrediting bodies and state. You will provide appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures within the modalities where assigned. Services are provided in accordance with industry standards, all department protocols and processes, and hospital policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs imaging in two or more modalities, following set protocols established by radiologists.
- Reviews all requisitions to ensure correct exams have been ordered and allotted the proper time frame.
- Utilizes appropriate care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients across all age groups.
- Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the physician.
- Reviews/evaluates completed exams for quality and proper format.
- Provides patient education to enhance comfort and reduce anxiety.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to Imaging Manager and/or Clinical Engineering.
- Utilizes imaging systems and techniques to generate quality images.
- Participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Ensures safety of patients and staff in and around imaging equipment.
- Participates in continuing education activities to maintain appropriate accreditation.
- Utilizes radiology information systems in accordance with current guidelines.
- Performs daily quality assurance (QA) scans.
- Checks routine preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and reports repairs as needed.
- Documents system errors and saves raw image/data for troubleshooting.
- Assists with Radiology QI metrics and reporting.
- Participates in daily readiness and MDI reporting as needed.
- Assists with new staff training and communication between management and staff.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Required Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of formal primary pathway in Radiology, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, or MRI accredited program.
- Registered in all modalities with advanced certifications as indicated.
- Satisfies post-primary education that meets certification standards.
- Licensure by the state of IN as required when using radiation producing equipment.
- Required to hold primary pathway registry/certification by ARRT or ARMRIT, with advanced certification in all disciplines within 12 months of hire.
- CPR training required and BLS training recommended.
- Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required.
