We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to fill the position of full-time associate veterinarian in the beautiful city of Tavares, FL. Tavares is next door to the idyllic historical Mount Dora area. As a small town in Central Florida located only 40 minutes Northwest of downtown Orlando, we have experienced recent new growth, with quick and easy access to all that our larger neighboring city has to offer. Alternatively, a short 45-minute drive will take you to the beach without the dangers of our notorious hurricanes that come along with coastal living.
Our practice is the only AAHA accredited practice in the county. We have cultivated a philosophy focusing on the provision of high quality and compassionate care for our patients while demonstrating empathy for their owners. As such, we have fostered an importance on building long-lasting relationships with our clients that in many cases have extended for decades and often spans generations. We also strongly value a healthy work-life balance for our close-knit staff. Because of that, we are not considered a higher volume hospital and schedule 30-minute regular appointments with 20-minute follow-up exams. A full-time schedule varies from 4 to 4.5 days with no weekend appointments.
Our support staff is amazing with many having decades of experience. Each doctor has their own assigned technician during appointments in addition to staff specifically dedicated to other positions such as lab, surgery, and treatments. We have a close relationship with a local emergency clinic, so we don’t see after-hours emergencies, nor do we typically hospitalize patients overnight. We also have relationships with referral hospitals for more complicated cases. Additionally, we utilize a traveling veterinary ultrasonographer to perform our diagnostic ultrasounds as well as a cardiologist that visits us every 4-8 weeks for echocardiograms. We also have an in-house ultrasound, full lab work capabilities, and full digital X-rays. Surgery equipment includes ECG machines with O2, CO2, and blood pressure monitoring, Hot Dog brand patient warming devices, and apnea monitors, just to name a few.
We are one of the few practices in the area that see a range of exotic and pocket pet patients including ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, geckos, various non-venomous reptiles, and birds. Currently, our case load is approximately 30% exotics and small mammals. We also offer a variety of surgical services ranging from the routine to more advanced soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. We would love to add an associate who has experience or has a strong interest in one or ideally, both of these areas.
As a privately-owned practice, we value the opinion of our associates and welcome communication in all areas. Your opinions and ideas matter to us and we are excited to offer as much or as little mentorship as our new associate may need. If the thought of joining this team sounds like an opportunity you are interested in learning more about, please contact us by responding to this posting.
Minimum Requirements: FL Veterinary license, DEA, PLIT, USDA accreditation.
